  • Teresa Cervera

    Teresa is the owner/operator of a successful pet care provider business in Washington Heights, NYC. Teresa has always had a passion for helping both people and animals to feel safe and supported. In 2001 as a transitional aged youth impacted by the congregate care system, she began her career journey as a Peer Leader for a young adult support group, where she used her administrative skills to support the growth of a peer-led empowerment space in Westchester County, NY. As a graduate with a background in Accounting, Teresa is happy to bring her insights and experiences to her service on the Bravehearts board. Teresa views Bravehearts as an evolution of the advocacy & policy improvement efforts so many young people fought for over two decades ago.

  • Samuel Lamb

    Sam has devoted his life to serving and supporting others in his community for over four decades. Sam obtained his MSW from Fordham University and proudly served and retired from the Mental Health Association of Westchester. Since his retirement, Sam continues to proudly serve his community by starting his own non-profit organization called Lamb Social Justice Initiative Inc. The organization’s mission is to promote equity, education and tackle injustices that impact marginalized black and brown communities. Sam offers his expertise to numerous community boards and committees. His participation with the Bravehearts is special because he believes youth are the future and investment into their care is necessary.

    Drawing from her firsthand understanding of the challenges faced by youth in care, Anni is a formidable force in driving positive policy changes. Anni has inspired numerous permanency initiatives and is a sought-after trainer for foster parents, child welfare professionals, stakeholders, and the wider community. Known for her energetic and dedicated approach, Anni is well-equipped to guide organizations towards greater success in the child welfare industry. Her warm demeanor and insightful perspective make her the preferred choice for advancing youth voice and choice, promoting family inclusion, and advocating for the respect of all individuals involved in the child welfare system.
